Epic Suing Fortnite Cheaters

Epic Suing Fortnite Cheaters

Epic’s Fortnite Battle Royale standalone game launched to a pretty massive response. Along with that response came a ton of cheaters, making things rough for the game’s legitimate players. Many cheaters have been banned from the game, but Epic has also filed suit against a few players seemingly responsible for cheating software.

Two Fortnite cheaters, identified by court documents as Mr. Broom and Mr. Vraspir, have been sued by Epic for copyright infringement. The company is arguing the defendants have breached terms of service agreements with their software.

Both men are involved with the AddictedCheats community. Vraspir specifically has allegedly been banned several times and written code used to hack Fortnite . Broom hasn’t been as directly involved, but has claimed to be working on cheat software of his own. Both are also involved in the community as moderators and/or support.

Epic is clearly attempting to make an example of these two, and they face charges of around $150,000 if found guilty. These lawsuits are likely intended to cut the head off the Fortnite hacking community, with the idea being others won’t be willing to take the continued risk if these lawsuits pan out in Epic’s favor.
