PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Has a Cheating Problem

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Has a Cheating Problem

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has seen insane amounts of success in these past few months. The number of copies sold and amount of players participating seems to be ever-growing. It only makes sense then that the number of people being banned would also increase. Last month, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds reported that 150,000 people were banned from the game since it launched. This number has apparently more than doubled.

The anti-cheat technology that is being utilized in PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is BattlEye, and they’ve taken to Twitter with some interesting numbers. It would seem that the number of players banned is now up to a whopping grand total of 322,000. That number increases every single day from around 6,000 to 13,000 players. Some daily totals even go as high as 20,000 bans.

It would seem that a large majority of these bans are being handed out to Chinese players. While PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is the country’s most popular game, there is a decided lack of Chinese servers. This causes a lot of players to experience lag and the inability to join games. Many are turning to cheating to make up for these problems. That, in turn, gets them caught and banned by BattlEye. Bluehole hasn’t made any announcements related to whether or not they plan to add more Chinese servers, but at this point it’s relatively easy to say that it could alter the number of banned Chinese players if they were to add more servers.

A brand new map is going to be added to Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds in the near future, which is bound to drive traffic in the game up even further. It would seem BattlEye is on the case as far as cheaters are concerned though, so the game should remain enjoyable for everyone.
