Minecraft Is Not Better Together on Xbox One

Minecraft ‘s Better Together update was supposed to make the game more enjoyable for everyone. As it turns out, console fans are a little left out, and I’m not even talking about the fact that PlayStation doesn’t have the update at all. What I’m referring to is the Xbox One version of the Better Together update.

First off, it’s apparently not even an update. The console version of Better Together means installing and downloading a totally different game client. From the Xbox store, you’ll have to locate the client that’s just called Minecraft . This is obviously different from the console’s Minecraft: Xbox One Edition . From there, Xbox One players are finding themselves met with all kinds of problems. The largest one is that the UI for the game is totally different. In Minecraft: Xbox One Edition , the UI is made to work intuitively for the console. In the Better Together updated Minecraft , the UI matches the mobile version’s.

While that is already a problem, there is even more to deal with. You can’t look at your location within the game without using a cheat, which doesn’t allow you to track stats and get achievements. Redstone also acts differently between the versions, so if you import a world form the Xbox One Edition , you’ll have to rework things. The Better Together Minecraft is also super buggy. Many players find themselves importing a world from the Xbox One Edition, then not being able to access it later. A failure to sync world data error is also common.

The Better Together updated Minecraft also pushes the game’s store. It’s cluttered, it’s ugly, and you have to scroll past and click through a bunch of things before you can even get to the main menu. If you can look past all this, then you’ll be able to play with friends, but it’s certainly not a good start to something that was supposed to be a great addition to the title.
