Overnight, a new, New 3DS XL design-slash-bundle went on sale as an Amazon retailer exclusive. This design is based on the classic Super Nintendo Entertainment System, or SNES for short. This of course is coming after the hotness that is the Super NES Classic Edition mini-console.
The bundle, which again is only available through Amazon, is set at the usual price point of $199.99. The SNES theme goes all around the unit, with the Power and Reset buttons on the top of the clamshell and the buttons on the inside mimicking the system’s controllers. The package also comes with a download code for Super Mario Kart , one of Nintendo’s Super Nintendo Virtual Console offerings that only work on the New 3DS line.
In pure economic terms, Super Mario Kart is only $7.99, so this may not be the most enticing pack-in software out there. But this is a unique design that should definitely hit the right nostalgia notes for old fans of the Super Nintendo. The box even mimics the design of the original box, much like that of the Super NES Classic Edition. While the unit is available for pre-order now, it does not release until November 27.
