Bungie Releases Statement on Destiny 2 PC Bans

Bungie Releases Statement on Destiny 2 PC Bans

Trouble is afoot in the land of Destiny 2 on PC. The game’s subreddit has been on fire over a wave of what appears to be mass, quick player bannings, sometimes (according to user posts) occurring within minutes or hours of booting the game up for the first time. As of this writing, nobody has a clear idea of why.

For hours, most players had theorized and accepted that the bans were being triggered by third-party software being used in conjunction with Destiny 2 . This includes streaming software such as OBS and chat software such as Discord. Even native overlays that come with Windows 10 and NVIDIA graphics cards were pointed to as possible ban triggers.

This of course conflicts with Bungie’s policies, and the company has responded as such. Bungie, in a forum post, said that the only thing that should happen is incompatible software potentially preventing Destiny 2 from running. Otherwise, nobody should be banned. However, the representative said that Bungie is aware of what’s happening, although there is no further information as of this writing.
