PlayStation Vita to Receive Digital-Only Support from NISA

Anyone here own a PlayStation Vita? You in the back? How many of you still play your Vita? First-party support for it ended way back in 2015, which has led to a bit of a death rattle for the handheld. Those that have Vitas and still play them are going to hold on to them for as long as they can. If there’s anything that can be said about Vita fans, it’s that they’re diehard. It’s thanks to companies like NIS America that those hardcore fans will still have games to play.

NIS America is the publisher behind franchises like Ys and Danganronpa . They localize many popular Japanese games for American and European audiences. The Senior Associate Producer at NISA, Alan Costa, even stated what everyone knows, the games that are popular on the Vita are Japanese imports. Hence, the company will continue to localize those games for the fans still using the Vita.

Even still, it would appear NISA’s support can only go so far. There are only be two more games psychically released by the publisher for the Vita: Ys VIII and Danganronpa V3 . Any future NISA Vita game will be digital only. NISA plans to shift the majority of their focus to releasing games on PlayStation 4, Steam, and the Nintendo Switch.

Do you still game on the PlayStation Vita? Tell us what your favorite game is in the comments!
