Descent: Underground Will be On Consoles

Descent: Underground Will be On Consoles

Descent: Underground is a prequel to the first-person shooter Descent that released in 1994. It went through a successful crowdfunding campaign back in 2015, but not a whole lot has been heard about it since. Developers Descendent Studios have finally peeked their head out from the dark hole they were hiding in. As it turns out, when Descent: Underground released on Early Access, the full release window was pushed back by years.

Descendent Studios had no idea this would be the result when they went into Early Access. They thought they were doing the right thing by getting the game in supporters hands as soon as possible. The exact opposite happened, since the team had to work on supporting the product they already had released, rather than the one they wanted in the end. All of the team eventually ended up losing their pay. Descendent Studios had suddenly become an entirely volunteer team, still somehow committed to releasing their game.

It’s at times like this where one has to remember that there is no shame in asking for help when it’s needed. For Descendent Studios and Descent: Underground , that help came in the form of Little Orbit. They’re a video game development and publishing studio that plans to help bring Descent: Underground to as many people as possible. Not only has the full release date window moved up by years, they’re also helping port Descent: Underground to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One!

Supposedly an announcement as far as release date will be made at a “big” 2018 convention. Could they mean E3, Gamescom, or PAX? Guess we’ll just have to wait and see!
