Bandai Namco Announces Switch Exclusives Plan

Bandai Namco Announces Switch Exclusives Plan

The Switch is a ludicrous success so far, and companies that started out with skepticism are now rushing to get in on the action. Included in the new 2018 third-party gold rush is Bandai Namco, which recently made comments about not only its plans for the future, but also some regret aimed at its initial approach with the system.

These comments are from Takashi Mochizuki, a Japanese Wall Street Journal reporter, and were translated by the ex-NeoGAF community at ResetEra. Bandai Namco president Mitsuaki Taguchi spoke to the success of its current Switch offerings, which include Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 , One Piece Unlimited World Red, and the Switch iteration of the Namco Museum .

He said, roughly, “It’s a shame, but we didn’t think the Switch would be accepted this fast,” alluding to the high sales numbers for both hardware and software so far in 2017. This attitude has changed, and the company now plans to boost its resources aimed at support for the hybrid console/handheld.

The news coming out of this is that Bandai Namco has publicly stated it has three big exclusives coming for the Switch in 2018. All three of them are currently considered exclusives. This is alongside the growing number of games already in development for other platforms. Bandai Namco has been releasing more and more games lately, and it seems like the company is doing quite well for itself.
