“Free” Xbox 360 Available at GameStop this Black Friday

“Free” Xbox 360 Available at GameStop this Black Friday

I recently warned that everyone needs to be careful about Black Friday. A lot of the deals that happen during that day aren’t even that spectacular, or Cyber Monday deals beat them out. There’s one however that I can say wholeheartedly is a fantastic deal. GameStop is offering Xbox 360 consoles for free. No, that’s not a typo, they are free. Not in the traditional sense of the word, but the end result is the same.

If you want a free console, you’ll have to be all right with taking one of the original Xbox 360 models. Those are the old faithful white ones like in the photo above. These will be on sale on Black Friday for $60. Once you pick up the console in particular that you want, and pay the $60 sale price, you’ll be given the option to complete a mail-in rebate. That rebate will get you your entire $60 back. Frankly, it’d be silly to pass up this offer, especially if you, or someone you know is in the market for a 360. There’s still plenty of great games to play for the console! I’m still trudging through a backlog myself.

As with most rebates however, you will not be getting your money back in the form of cash, or a refund on your card used to purchase. The $60 Xbox 360 refund is given in the form of a Visa gift card. Personally, these kinds of rebates don’t bother me. I’ll take a $5 rebate Visa card if it’s being offered, no skin off my back that it probably cost them near that much to put the amount on the card and mail it to me. Plus in this case, a $60 Visa card could buy you a bunch of 360 games to play, or you could spend it on something lame like gas or fast food. No, that’s absolutely not want I do with my rebate cards…
