Star Wars Battlefront 2 Ceases Microtransactions For Now

Everyone, even those that have nothing to do with video games, have undoubtedly heard of Star Wars Battlefront 2 at this point in time. The game, and its creator (EA) have come under fire for creating a game that seemed to be built on real-life purchases for success. All of the heat put on them by fans and reviewers alike has caused EA to take drastic action. All in-game purchases with real life money have been suspended. You can no longer buy crystals, the in-game currency.

EA released an official statement claiming that they have heard fans “loud and clear” and that in-game purchases have been suspended for that reason. All Star Wars Battlefront 2 progression will be made through good old fashioned gameplay at this point in time. Crystals will be reintroduced at a later, yet unconfirmed date. During the time between now and then, EA has promised that they will be working on the systems to make them more in-tune with what fans are looking for. Considering the changes that EA has made thus far to Star Wars Battlefront 2 , it’ll be interesting to see what this means for the game.

There are rumors floating around that EA took down microtransactions within Star Wars Battlefront 2 after a phone call from Star Wars parent company, Disney. Bob Iger from Disney called Andrew Wilson from EA and they supposedly conversed about the game. It was after this talk that EA announced the removal of Star Wars Battlefront 2 ‘s crystals.

Needless to say Star Wars Battlefront 2 is going to go down in history as a game to remember, but not necessarily for the right reasons. Have you played it yet, or do you plan to? Let us know!
