Big Winter Update Coming for Splatoon 2

Big Winter Update Coming for Splatoon 2

This week, starting on November 23, a big, new update is coming for Splatoon 2 on the Nintendo Switch. The update will include new content ranging from new customization options to new maps and a lot more.

While the update itself drops on November 23, the new stages included will be rolling out over time, starting on November 24. This first new map is called MakoMart, an appropriately store-themed map considering the Black Friday rollout date. The subsequent maps are called Shellendorf Institute, Walleye Warehouse and Arowana Mall. The latter two are returning maps from the first Splatoon. A new Salmon Run stage is also coming, called Salmonid Smokeyard.

140 new pieces of gear will come along with the update, featuring winter clothing items, shoes, headgear, and returning items from the first Splatoon . Four new hairstles, two mae and two female, will also be added. To help make gear easier to use, players will be able to swap gear while in a match room, without having to exit to the lobby.

The level cap is being raised from 50, to 99. When a player reaches 99, they can reset, and have a star placed next to their level, to continue being able to level up and impress their opponents. New music is also coming, performed by two new in-universe bands: the Bottom Feeders and Ink Theory. Finally, a new feature for amiibo figures is coming, that will allow players to take, edit and share in0game screenshots in specific parts of Battle Stages.
