Pokemon GO Update Adding New Pokemon

Pokemon GO Update Adding New Pokemon

Pokemon GO has been updated yet again, this time making 50 more Pokemon available to capture. These Pokemon are from the Hoenn region, or the Ruby/Sapphire era. Included in the list are, of course, starters Treecko, Torchic, and Mudkip. Along with the new critters, developer Niantic has also added a weather system that will affect the game experience based on what’s happening outside in the real world.

The weather is actually part of the Hoenn generation addition, as that was actually the first core Pokemon game to introduce weather to its own systems. Not unlike those games, in Pokemon GO , weather effects will boost the power of relevant Pokemon, such as ice types during snowy weather. It will also make the respective Pokemon easier to capture during their preferred weather conditions.

Niantic intends the feature to be a big boon for the more hardcore members of Pokemon GO ’s player base, as a sort of “min-max” mechanics. Players will be able to optimize their teams further as they tackle gym battles, especially if they live in an area with a more consistent climate.
