Some big news came today for fans of Harry Potter. A new mobile game, Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery, will be coming some time in 2018 for fans via the App Store, Google Play, or the Amazon Appstore. It'll be a story-drive role-playing game where players will create their own student and go through their years at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
It's being created by Jam City, a mobile studio that has created games like Cookie Jam, Panda Pop, The Book of Life: Sugar Smash, and Genies and Gems. Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery will be published by a new studio created by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment specifically for projects based in the franchise. The name of that division will be familiar to Harry Potter fans, as it is called Portkey Games.
Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery will not only allow players to create their own character and head to Hogwarts. Players will also be able to participate in familiar classes like Defense Against the Dark Arts, Potions, and Duelling Club, among others. Most of the familiar professors from the Harry Potter universe will be reprising their roles for Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery.
The rest of the details on the project remain, well, a mystery. We don't know what time period this series will be taking place in, pre, post, or during the years of Harry Potter. We also don't have specifics on how players will progress through their years at school. Details will supposedly be coming via Jam Cit and/or Portkey Games in the future. You can also find Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery on Facebook, Twitter, or its website.
