Japan-exclusive Tingle Sequel Finally Translated by Fans

Japan-exclusive Tingle Sequel Finally Translated by Fans

You may know about Freshly-Picked Tingle’s Rosy Rupeeland . While the goofy DS game starring everyone’s favorite The Legend of Zelda NPC didn’t make it to the United States, it was released in Europe, therefore in English. However, you may not know about the sequel, Ripened Tingle’s Balloon Trip of Love . Thanks to fan translators, you can check it out without needing to know Japanese.

Ripened Tingle’s Balloon Trip of Love was only released in Japan, for the DS, in 2009. The fan translation project has been in the works for over five years by a team of seven people and other contributors. The game is a dungeon-crawler-slash-point-and-click-adventure, starring Tingle as he explores a picture book. The story is loosely based on The Wizard of Oz , with the supporting cast acting as stand-in homages for the Scarecrow, Cowardly Lion, so on and so forth.

It is also a dating sim, oddly enough. There are a number of women in the game that Tingle can meet and woo as he goes about his journey.

The download is available for free, and is of course a patch that needs to be applied to a ROM file.
