Detective Pikachu Coming West

Detective Pikachu Coming West

While it launched in Japan all the way back in 2016, The Pokemon Company has finally announced that Detective Pikachu is coming to the Nintendo 3DS on March 23, 2018 in the United States and Europe. Not only that, but a new amiibo for the game will also come out with the game.

While the fate of Detective Pikachu in the west was a mystery for years, a live-action movie based on the property is ramping up in production. The game finally releasing here is likely a part of the movie’s path to theaters and the public mindshare. Ryan Reynolds is rumored to play Pikachu in the movie, but thanks to a new trailer with English voice acting, we know the character has a totally different voice in the game. Yes, Detective Pikachu speaks and sounds like a grown man.

The amiibo, meant to help players with their in-game investigation, is for some reason twice the size of a standard amiibo. When tapped, it will show players “Pika Prompts.” That said, the thing is so huge it’s hard to imagine it even fitting on the touch screen of a 3DS, even the XL models. It will cost $29.99, while the game will be $39.99.
