Mixer Catching Up to Twitch with New Integrations

Mixer Catching Up to Twitch with New Integrations

If you haven’t heard of Mixer yet, you might soon. It’s a Twitch-comparable streaming service owned by Microsoft that has been a little behind in the game. They’re catching up fast with some new integrations, like the ability to tip streamers and in-platform game purchases. Both of these features are already available for Twitch streamers and viewers, but Mixer is working become a real competitor.

As we’ve already stated, Mixer is owned by Microsoft, so of course the company is going to scratch their own back where possible with the streaming service. Games and DLC that you can buy directly through Mixer during a stream are only those available through the Microsoft digital store at the moment. This will hopefully change in the future, as Mixer has plans to add even more digital sales options for viewers. If you buy a game directly through a stream on Mixer, any streamer who is partnered with Mixer will get a percentage of your purchase.

Couple that with the new integration for tipping, and Mixer is becoming much more appealing for streamers. Competition is certainly never a bad thing, so it’s great that this streaming platform is seeming to become more on par with its predecessors. The tipping service in Mixer will work much like it does in Twitch, if you like what you see, you’ll be able to tip straight through the stream. This makes it easier to share the love with streamers rather than having to go to an external payment site.

Have you watched or participated in any streams on Mixer? Let us know!
