Fortnite Battle Royale Will Run at 60 FPS on Consoles

Fortnite Battle Royale Will Run at 60 FPS on Consoles

The team over at Epic Games working on Fortnite Battle Royale posted a “State of Development” piece on the company’s official website. It’s a big blog post outlining a sort of roadmap for Fortnite Battle Royale , a list of planned updates, features, and improvements on deck for the game.

Part of these plans are several optimization and performance efforts, generally presented as overall improvements to the game. Epic Games wants to make matchmaking faster and easier, improve load times, so on and so forth. But more notably is that Epic is planning to add a new, optional “60 FPS mode” to Fortnite Battle Royale . This mode will be on every console, not just the 4K-capable models.

Epic also shared concept art for various planned additions to the cosmetic options available in the game. Many of these will be modifications on the model level, meaning for example that one of the outfits shown in the post totally changes the shape of the character model.

Beyond all that, Epic also notes plans for various quality of life improvements, social features, limited-time events, and more. Epic doesn’t include things like timetables and release dates, save for the 60 FPS mode which is set for sometime in February 2018.
