Metro: Exodus Is Bigger than 2033 and Last Light Together

Metro: Exodus Is Bigger than 2033 and Last Light Together

When it comes to the upcoming Metro: Exodus , developer 4A Games has spoken to the game’s size, suggesting the game will be much more “open” that what came before. However, while 4A Games does have the DNA of the open world S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series running through its veins, Metro: Exodus won’t be deviating entirely from the Metro games’ more story-driven paths.

Mostly, in speaking to Game Informer, Metro: Exodus ’ creative director Andiry Prolhorov and executive producer Jon Bloch put over the size of the game in terms of scale. While they said the largest outdoor portion of Last Light was roughly 100-200 meters, the average size of an outdoor slice of Exodus is about two square kilometers.

Bloch said that each of these big areas, which can feature gameplay both below and above ground, will have hours of content. This content comprises both the critical story path, as well as optional looting and world-building. While these areas are huge, they are segmented; players won’t be able to move back and forth between them.
