Mafia III Developer Affected by Layoffs

Hangar 13, developer of the 2K-published Mafia III , has been on the receiving end of a wave of layoffs, as confirmed by 2K. Kotaku reports allege that these layoffs are significant.

2K, in response to the matter, told Kotaku that the studio can confirm “staff reductions” for Hangar 13. The statement said that the reductions will not influence “2K’s ability to create and deliver products that are currently in development.” The statement also claims 2K is working with the laid off employees to find spots for them elsewhere under the 2K umbrella.

According to Kotaku’s report, Hangar 13 has been working on prototyping new projects after releasing its first game, Mafia III . .One example given was a third-person action game with elements of music and rhythm-based play. Mafia III was released in October 2016, and while it didn’t light up reviews, it did ship over five million copies to retailers.
