Switch Has a Playtime Deletion Error

Nintendo Switch users were in a tizzy this past weekend, as they started noticing some of their playtime statistics disappearing. Titles like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, that had been around for more than a year, were displaying a playtime of zero hours. This rightfully had fans upset, and concerned about their other playtime statistics. As it turns out, this was just a glitch, and all is still right with the world.

ResetEra and Reddit users were the first to notice this issue. As we’ve already mentioned, it was occurring with games that were more than a year old. This led many to believe that their Nintendo Switch consoles would only record their playtime for a single year before deleting it. This would be a bit upsetting, as obviously many games are played over a number of years.

Nintendo of America tweeted directly about this to say that they were aware of the problem. They specifically said they knew playtimes were “displaying incorrectly.” A further tweet assured that playtime is still being recorded in the background. An update will be releasing for the Switch in the future that will patch out this bug. You can see the tweet related to that information here.

Have you fallen victim to this playtime erasure bug?
