Kartridge Is Kongregate’s Answer to Steam

Kartridge Is Kongregate’s Answer to Steam

All kinds of different companies are working to give Valve a run for its money. The most recent competitor should already sound familiar to some, as it is Kongregate. The website is working to create a gaming portal called Kartridge. While it stands to reason that they’re going to take on Valve and Steam, Kongregate says they have other plans.

If you’re not super familiar with Kongregate, here’s a little reminder. They’re probably most well-known for their website, which offers up all kinds of browser-based games you can play. They also have quite a number of mobile games under their belt. While they’ve been focusing on free-to-play and freemium games lately, they wanted to do something a bit different.

Kartridge is set up to bring something new to the industry. Kongregate plans to cater it towards attracting indie developers and their games. For consumers, Kartridge hopes to have more active community and social features than their competition. There will also be a handful of different payment schemes, including regularly priced games, pay-what-you-want games (and possibly bundles), as well as free-to-play titles. Kartridge will also have an achievements system which will reward you with discounts and deals.

Keep an eye out for more information on this new game platform as it gets further along in its development.
