God of War Won’t Have Microtransactions

God of War Won’t Have Microtransactions

Earlier in the week, a screenshot of the upcoming PlayStation 4 action-fest God of War started making the rounds from a preview event. The screenshot, while fuzzy, sort of resembled a menu you’d see in other AAA titles that hinted at the possibility of a premium currency. Luckily, that doesn’t appear to be the case, as God of War Creative Director Cory Balrog shot the scuttlebutt dead himself.

Balrog took to Twitter, simply saying “No freakin way!!!” in response to a Tweet tagged to Sony Santa Monica asking about the possible microtransactions. So, unless there’s some funny business going on, and that would be some serious funny business considering we’re talking about the director here, everyone can relax. For now.

While spending a lot of time without a release date after its E3 announcement, we now know God of War will be dropping on PlayStation 4 next month, on April 20. Multiple collectible SKUs are available, as well as a special edition PlayStation 4 Pro bundle recently announced by Sony.
