Drew Karypshyn Leaves BioWare Again

Drew Karypshyn Leaves BioWare Again

Drew Karypshyn is a writer who had been with BioWare for a long time, going back to Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and of course contributing heavily to the Mass Effect series. Karypshyn left BioWare in 2012 to pursue other work, most notably writing multiple novels. This included his own original works, as well as licensed Star Wars books. He ended up coming back to the company in 2015, and has apparently been working on Anthem . However, he has once again announced his departure, for similar reasons to the first time.

Karypshyn announced his departure from BioWare on his blog. He will once again be focusing on writing for himself, including more novels and a sci-fi graphic novel project. He will also be doing video game work, but on a freelance basis. He commented briefly on why he left BioWare, only to say he won’t be saying why and insisting there’s no “dirty laundry.”

We also have a hint at what’s next from Drew in the world of games at least. He said that his next games work will be for new publisher FoxNextGames with developer Fogbank Entertainment. He said the game will be episodic, narrative-based, and is licensing an “acclaimed” Fox IP.
