Drake Plays Fortnite on Twitch and Smashes Viewer Record

Fortnite is a big deal these days, and Twtich streamers are certainly profiting from that quick rise. New streamers are shooting up in relevance alongside the game, and one such streamer is Tyler “Ninja” Blevins. Ninja may have had a big following before, but everything fell apart when rapper Drake joined him on a stream and obliterated viewership records.

While Drake was on stream playing Fortnite , Tyler’s channel peaked at over 635,000 concurrent viewers. That may or may not sound like a lot, but to put it in perspective, the second-highest record was held by uh, Trending Gamer 2018 Dr. Disrespect at a total of 388,000. This is a stat for non-tournament streams, as those blow up by nature of the event. That record is held by Eleague Major: Boston 2018 and stands at over 1.1 million.

During the stream, Ninja gained over 90,000 new subscribers, which roughly translated to around $250,000 a month. This stream ended up being the top four trending topics in the US simultaneously, shared between Drake, Ninja, Travis Scott, and Fortnite in that order. JuJu Smith-Schuster, wide receiver for the Pittsburgh Steelers, also joined the stream.
