Sea of Thieves Has a Literal Day One Patch

Sea of Thieves Has a Literal Day One Patch

Sea of Thieves is launching on March 20, 2018. This means there’s a whole bushel of wonderful little last minute tidbits releasing about the game. Like the fact that developers considered all kinds of different themes for the game in the beginning stages, including dinosaurs and vampires. There’s also going to be a really hilarious item for sale in the General Clothing Shop that pokes fun at day one patches.

But first let’s talk vampires and dinosaurs. The head Rare, Sea of Thieves ‘ developer, Craig Duncan told IGN that the team considered all kinds of fun ideas when they were brainstorming the game. All they knew was that they wanted a co-op adventure title of some kind. They just needed a theme to bring it all together. Dinosaurs were on the table at one point, which Duncan is glad they didn’t go with thanks to ARK: Survival Evolved ‘s existence. Vampires were also considered. But when the team brought up the possibility of pirates, the rest was history.

Onto some other fun Sea of Thieves news. There’s going to be a day one patch of course, but not without some Rare fun. Thanks to user Jefabell on Reddit, there’s an item coming to the game literally called “Day One Patch.” If you haven’t already guessed, it’s an eye patch…with the number one on it. The item is a hilarious addition to what is already shaping up to be an extremely entertaining game. The Day One Patch will be up for grabs for the price of a single gold coin. The item description itself highlights the team’s sense of humor, and the item’s origins, “A message in a bottle from Jolly Jefabell washed ashore, Eye patch makers read it and said ‘aye’.”

Will you be grabbing the Day One Patch after Sea of Thieves launches tomorrow?
