CD Projekt RED “Can’t” Make The Witcher 4

CD Projekt RED “Can’t” Make The Witcher 4

It seems like we’re about to be on the road to Cyberpunk 2077 as little hints keep trickling from developer CD Projekt RED. Obviously the super popular Witcher IP isn’t going anywhere either, but an interesting statement from the company’s CEO should temper expectations for whatever comes next. Specifically, don’t get your hopes up about a direct Witcher 4 .

The quote, from CD Projekt RED CEO Adam Kicinski, is that the company “can’t” make Witcher 4 . It’s a bit of a semantic thing, in truth. Kicinski clarifies that the company won’t do Witcher 4 in the sense of a direct sequel to Wild Hunt , as that series was intended to be a trilogy from the very beginning. Now that story is done, although the Witcher as a series is very much open for more mileage.

For now, CD Projekt RED will be focusing on GWENT and of course the upcoming, big-ass game Cyberpunk 2077 . More games in the Witcher universe could certainly come in the future, but the implication here is that the story would be something totally different, rather than a direct continuation of the story already told.
