Carmen Sandiego Getting Live-Action Film

Carmen Sandiego Getting Live-Action Film

90’s kids have the go-ahead to lose their collectives minds. The beloved franchise Carmen Sandiego is making all kinds of comebacks. Most recently, this includes a live-action film coming from Netflix. They just recently acquired the rights to create said film from the rights owners Houghton Mifflin Harcourt.

The actor playing the titular character has also been announced. Gina Rodriguez from Jane the Virgin and Miss Bala is Carmen Sandiego. She also voices Sandiego in the upcoming Netflix animated series and will be producing it with I Can and I Will Productions. Andy Berman, from Misher films, is going to executive produce, while Kevin Misher will be a regular producer. The final name currently tied to the movie is additional producer Caroline Fraser. She is the head of HMH Productions and an executive producer on the Carmen Sandiego animated series.

The animated Carmen Sandiego series will be releasing some time in 2019. There isn’t much else known about either of these projects yet. Writer and director credits for the live-action film will probably follow next.

One other interesting bit of news is that a Carmen Sandiego series of books will be coming from HMH in 2019 as well.

Are you excited to blast into the past with Carmen Sandiego?
