Destiny 2 “Go Fast” Update Detailed

Destiny 2 “Go Fast” Update Detailed

Destiny 2 went down for maintenance today, and Bungie made some massive changes to the game. Practically every weapon in the game has been buffed, apart from Exotics, which will see their own buffs in May 2018. This update 1.1.4 is fondly being referred to as the “Go Fast” update, because base walking and sprint speeds have been increased across the board. Destiny 2 design lead Josh Hamrick said they want to bring back hero moments, and the team is hoping that these changes will bring action back into the game.

It’s a unique and risky move for the Destiny 2 team to make. When most games find a weapon that is vastly overpowered, they’ll nerf it. This exact opposite move could be fantastic or it could fail catastrophically. The full patch notes for the Go Fast update are available from Bungie, but here are a few things to look for.

Nightfall strike rewards have been changed to also include Legendary weapons and Exotic accessories. The drop rates for these will change based on your score, becoming more likely the higher your score. You’ll no longer have to trudge through the same strike over and over, as they will no longer appear back-to-back. Patrol beacons and activity totems will be much faster to interact with (down to 1 second from 3). Crucible now has a weekly featured playlist which will rotate between Rumble, Mayhem, and Iron Banner playlists. Just like strike, you’ll also have the ability to prevent map repetition for Crucible in Quickplay, Competitive, and Iron Banner playlists. If you back out of a match in Competitive Crucible playlists for any reason you’ll get a warning or a 30 minute suspension from Competitive and Osiris Competitive playlists. So make sure you’re not rage-quitting!
