World Video Game Hall of Fame 2018 Finalists Revealed

World Video Game Hall of Fame 2018 Finalists Revealed

The World Video Game Hall of Fame at The Strong Museum is working on deciding what classic game will be included this year. The World Video Game Hall of Fame is still fairly young, so they’re still working through the entirety of gaming history when choosing their finalists. So don’t be surprised at the ages of the potential candidates.

The 2018 finalists for the World Video Game Hall of Fame are as follows:

  • Asteroids
  • Call of Duty
  • Dance Dance Revolution
  • Final Fantasy VII
  • Half-Life
  • John Madden Football
  • King’s Quest
  • Metroid
  • Minecraft
  • Ms. Pac-Man
  • Spacewar!
  • Tomb Raider

Last year saw the induction of Pokemon Red and Green , Street Fighter II , Donkey Kong , and Halo: Combat Evolved into The Strong Museum World Video Game Hall of Fame. This year’s choices will be announced during a ceremony on May 3, 2018.

Perhaps the neatest thing about this year’s vote is the inclusion of a Player’s Choice ballot. Gamers the world over can vote online until April 4, 2018. Votes can be cast once a day. The final three games that get the most votes will be included in the Player’s Choice ballot. This will be considered right alongside the other 27 Hall of Fame advisory committee ballots. Take the time to vote, and you could help make video game history!
