New Costumes Added to Super Mario Odyssey

New Costumes Added to Super Mario Odyssey

Nintendo continues to support Super Mario Odyssey after release, with free content. This time around, a couple of new costumes have been added for players to buy. Both costumes are cute, little references to Mario’s long history.

The first one’s relevance to Mario history is probably debatable. It’s a baseball uniform, the kind with a pinstripe uniform and a red battling helmet. Once your game updates, the uniform will be available in the shop for 3,000 coins, and the batting helmet for 1,500. Mario wears similar attire on the cover of Baseball for the Game Boy, although it’s not quite the same.

The second costume is the Satellaview set. It’s a wacky, little astronaut suit, with the outfit part costing 1,000 coins and the helmet 500. This one is cool, because it’s a direct reference to advertisements for the Satellaview, which was a Super Famicom add-on that let players purchase special versions of games via satellite download. The suit’s description reads, “This outfit represents what the future used to look like,” nodding to the short-lived device being ahead of its time.
