A new event has been announced for Metal Gear Survive, via publisher and developer Konami. The event is in the game’s co-op mode and is titled The Encounter 1964. It also happens to be based on a beloved earlier game in the series: Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater.
The event will run for two weeks, starting on April 10, 2018. The event will feature iconography from Snake Eater, including a list of unlockable gear and items for players who participate. This includes the Crocodile Cap, Naked Snake’s camo fatigues, and EVA’s jumpsuit. A new cassette with the song "Takin' on the Shagohod" will also be obtainable.
Despite landing with a divided reception from gamers and critics alike, Metal Gear Survive has maintained an audience, and Konami supporting the game post-launch should help maintain that niche community. Especially, the idea of incorporating little bits and pieces of Metal Gear past should at the very least draw some eyeballs to the product.
