Remember Nintendo’s Game & Watch series? Or perhaps the later fad of Tiger Electronics handhelds, with their trademark black and white visuals and single-screen devices? Well, as Square Enix has announced via a new trailer, we’ll be able to relive those days with several mingames in Kingdom Hearts III.
Based on the trailer, it looks like Sora will have some kind of handheld device in Kingdom Hearts III, which will give the player access to these minigames. The games themselves are based on classic Mickey Mouse cartoons, which include Giantland, The Karnival Kid, Musical Farmer, and The Barnyard Battle. In footage, we see awesome, LCD aesthetic versions of Sora, Mickey, Donald, and Goofy.
Intriguingly, these minigames will also be a part of Kingdom Hearts Union χ Cross, the mobile game that has been kicking around since 2015. Perhaps this is an early example of a Final Fantasy XV-style multiplatform tie-in universe. Or Square Enix is just really proud of these cute minigames and wants to make sure we play them.
