Blizzard has expanded its gifting services, now offering users the ability to gift directly to a friend’s Blizzard Balance. Essentially, Blizzard has launched digital gift cards for its proprietary Blizzard Shop.
The process is pretty straightforward. While logged into the Blizzard Shop, simply navigate to the Blizzard Balance section as if buying credit for yourself. You can select the available options or enter a custom amount, then click the “Gift Balance” button. Select someone from your friend list, and boom.
You can also attach a personalized message to the gift, and Blizzard will send it to the recipient, who can then claim the gift and add the balance directly to their account. The recipient will get both a notification in the Blizzard App, along with the email. Hopefully that means they won’t miss it.
Gifting has traditionally been odd territory for digital marketplaces, with Steam often changing how things work and what users with gifted games are able to participate in, with regards to reviews. It’s cool to see Blizzard just straight up adding balance gifting. Hopefully nothing bad happens as a result!
