Nintendo Announces Dragalia Lost

Nintendo Announces Dragalia Lost

Nintendo has purchased a five percent stake in Cygames, a Japanese developer of mobile games, and the two have announced a new action RPG. The game is called Dragalia Lost , and is both co-developed and “jointly operated” by Nintendo and Cygames.

Dragalia Lost will initially launch in Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau this summer. However, a North American and European release have also been confirmed for sometime later.

Cygames is, notably, the developer of Granblue Fantasy , which is one of the most successful mobile games in Japan. It’s a “gacha” game, meaning much like Nintendo’s other big mobile game, Fire Emblem Heroes , new characters are earned through random drops paid for with premium currency. Whether or not Dragalia Lost follows this model has not been announced.

While Granblue Fantasy has not been officially released in North America (although a translation patch exists), Dragalia Lost is being designed with “worldwide appeal” in mind.
