Fanbase Finds Secret in God of War’s Cloth Map

Fanbase Finds Secret in God of War’s Cloth Map

This piece of news comes with a God of War spoiler warning. Proceed with caution. Now that the game has been out for… ten days, God of War fans are now at the stage where it’s time to tear the thing open and search every nook and cranny for secrets. Turns out, the cloth map that comes with the collector’s edition has a secret leading to some pretty powerful treasure hidden in the game itself.

The map features the World Serpent quite prominently, functioning as a border around the rest of the image. On the top and bottom, several runes are written on its body. An ambitious YouTuber, “BRKsEDU,” was able to transpose the runes into Roman letters, and discovered a hidden message. The message told a story about the blacksmith dwarves Brok and Sindri, and revealed a pretty transparent clue about where and how to find some hidden treasure.

Sure enough, after some Internet crowd-sourcing, fans found the location hinted by the map, and after following some instructions, found the item. It’s called the “Forbidden Grip of the Ages,” a legendary axe pommel that boosts all Kratos’ stats and adds a concussive wave to the standard light combo.
