Avengers: Infinity War Reference Discovered in God of War

It looks like the folks at Sony Santa Monica are big Marvel fans. In the wake of both God of War and Avengers: Infinity War releasing around the same time, fans have been digging into both as much as possible for little easter eggs and hidden secrets. I doubt anyone expected a miniature crossover, however.

Spoiler warning, by the way!

God of War players have found and realized that an epic-level talisman, the Shattered Gauntlet of Ages, is functionally a big, elaborate reference to Thanos’ Infinity Gauntlet. If players collect the God of War parallels to the Infinity Stones, they can be slotted into the gauntlet, and eventually unlock a powerful new attack.

Six specific Enchantments, items that can be slotted into certain items, are comparable to the Infinity Stones. The items are: Andvari’s Soul, Asgard’s Stone of Existence, Eye of the Outer Realm, Ivaldi’s Corrupted Mind, Muspelheim’s Eye of Power, and Njord’s Temporal Stone. These can be compared to the Soul, Reality, Space, Mind, Power, and Time Stones respectively.

When fully upgraded, the Shattered Gauntlet of Ages can socket three items (which is admittedly different from the Infinity Gauntlet, which can house all six stones). However, if any three of the above are socketed, Kratos will get a new ability that will fire a Thanos-colored energy beam from the gauntlet. Without three of the specific stones, the item will just produce a shockwave.
