New Breath of the Wild Glitch Discovered that Recharges Runes

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is a complex game. It’s full of different systems interacting with each other, and physics is a huge part of that. That means, most importantly, that the game can be broken in half, as players both casual and hardcore have discovered ways to bend the game to their collective wills. Some of the flashier stuff involves taking advantage of the rune abilities, particularly stasis. Players can freeze and object, load it up with momentum, then send it and potentially themselves flying across the environment. Now, a new glitch has been discovered that seems to allow players to recharge runes at will, blowing the door wide open on Breath of the Wild air travel.

Here’s the skinny: Normally, you use a rune, and then it has to recharge. So there’s a hard limit on bombs, stasis, so on and so forth. But a Reddit user by the name of paradox_guardian discovered that triggering a cutscene will cause runes to “instantly” recharge. How to get a cutscene (or what the game considers one) to trigger? Well, turns out if you’ve found any of the hidden memories you have a list of them sitting in your pocket. Pause the game, play a memory, skip it, then boom. Mid-air recharge.

This has all kinds of uses, of course. The fun one is the “stasis launch,” the unofficial name for what I referred to earlier. Speedrunners love to use this as a way to skip over barriers, saving minutes if not hours of time depending on the situation. Casual players can use this to make shrine puzzles significantly easier, or just find silly new ways to solve problems. The sky’s the limit really, quite literally.
