STALKER 2 Announced for 2021

STALKER 2 Announced for 2021

Seemingly out of the blue, GSC Game World announced a new sequel to its cult classic STALKER , which is currently aiming for a 2021 release. This has come from the launch of a website, which simply says exactly that.

Over ten years have passed since the original STALKER was released in 2007. The original game was called Shadow of Chernobyl , and was an early survival/horror shooter set in the area around the historic nuclear meltdown. A prequel, Clear Sky was released in 2008, and a sequel, Call of Pripyat , followed in 2010. STALKER 2 gets the “2” of course, but what that really means is yet to be determined.

The story of the fourth STALKER game has been turbulent. As Polygon reports, GSC GameWorld was actually closed in 2011, which put development on a game at the time on hold. The reason given was “personal reasons,” and things went quiet until the company suddenly reappeared in 2015 with a negative response to a crowdfunded successor project and an announcement for a different game.

An Epic Games employee by the name of Sergey Galyonkin posted a link to the website on Twitter, then hinted the game will be running on Unreal 4.
