Sega’s Sonic-themed racing games are a surprisingly enjoyable alternative to kart racers like Mario Kart. Heck, some people, like myself, even prefer them. As such, I’m very excited to hear that Sega has announced a follow-up to Sonic and All-Stars Racing Transformed called Team Sonic Racing.
The game is being made by Sumo Digital, the same group that worked on the previous Sonic racing games, in addition to OutRun 2 and Forza Motorsport 6: Apex. Other than that, details are very scarce. The trailer, featuring both Sonic and Shadow the Hedgehog does, indeed, look beautiful but it only announces that the game is coming out. We have no idea how many characters or tracks will be available, what kind of changes to gameplay will be on offer, or what modes will be supported.
We do, however, know that it will be available on Steam, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and the Xbox One. It is also available for pre-order and will be out “this Winter.”
