Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Season Pass Splits the Player Base

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Season Pass Splits the Player Base

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 has secured itself in the news cycle for multiple reasons. For one, it’s going to have its own version of a battle royale mode. For two, it’s not going to have a single player mode. Because of that, you’d figure they’d work to preserve the quality of the multiplayer experience, but some consumers are wondering if that’s not the case. Because, for three, the season pass for the game seems to create a gap between player experiences.

This season pass is called The Black Ops Pass, and it includes a handful of bonuses. Among these are 12 multiplayer maps. That means that the user base is split between those who just own the game and those who want to pay extra for a better experience. Because people like playing with their friends, the incentive to spend extra money increases due to peer pressure.

It feels like an outdated model at this point. Battlefield releases maps for free. Destiny 2 releases maps for free. Even the notoriously predatory game, Battlefront 2 , releases maps for free. But, if Battlefront 2 taught us anything, it’s that gamers have a voice. If it really matters to you, do what you can to make your voice heard.
