Sony Cancels Omega Labyrinth Z Localization

Sony Cancels Omega Labyrinth Z Localization

Earlier in the year, PQube’s localization of Omega Labyrinth Z got some attention due to the game being refused classification, therefore being legally banned, in countries like the UK and Australia. Now, the big hammer has finally fallen, and the game has been cancelled by Sony in America, ultimately sealing the fate of a western localization.

PQube announced the news in a statement this morning, stating that “the game is cancelled on both platforms and all Western regions permanently.” This applies to the PlayStation 4 and Vita, as the game was not planned for release elsewhere by PQube. Further in the statement, the company says it has worked with age rating bodies, but must “respectfully comply with the wishes of the platform holder.” Essentially that means Sony got cold feet and pulled the North American plug.

It’s not super surprising. Omega Labyrinth Z is a provocative game, and gained attention for being banned due to its underaged characters being the subject of said provocation. Cheesecake in a high school setting is nothing new for anime stuff, but this game pushed too far, and PQube was quite vocal about not wanting to make adjustments.
