Rocket League Celebrating Its Third Anniversary

Rocket League Celebrating Its Third Anniversary

It doesn’t feel like it, but Rocket League has apparently been out 3 years now and its developer, Psionix, has plans to celebrate the most popular game in the Rocket Car Soccer genre. It will do this through a new Anniversary Playlist.

The playlist will consist of 3v3 matches that take place in a “throwback stadium.” It’s a throwback, because it’s a recognizable homage to Psionix’s other game, Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars, which is likely the second most popular game in the Rocket Car Soccer genre. The goal layout will be different from what Rocket League players are familiar with, in that the goals won’t be carved into the walls of the arena. Instead, they will be placed a few meters from the back, kind of like hockey. The ball will also be lighter, in tribute to the almost 10year-old spiritual predecessor to Rocket League.

Throughout the course of the event, which runs  July 9-23, 2018, players will unlock  “balloons” which can be used to purchase limited time event items. Judging from the screenshots, a lot of these items are birthday themed. It’s all looking very festive and if you missed out on Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars , this is a good chance to get your toes wet.
