17 Years Later, User Discovers Silent Hill 2 Secrets

A Twitter user has discovered a few interesting aspects of Silent Hill 2 that have avoided being discovered for 17 years! The user, called punk7890, reports that these “well hidden secrets” require a complex set of button inputs to unlock a mini map and ability to save anywhere.

The first set of inputs displays a mini map in the upper right hand corner of the screen. The second set of inputs lets the player save at any place or time in the game. (That could certainly be useful in thos treacherous horror title!) The requirements for the mini map combo involve completing the “Dog Ending” of the game. Even though the game is older, I won’t reveal exactly what that is here, but the ending and the association with mini maps kind of makes sense. The saving combo doesn’t require anything other than the button inputs.

To bring up the mini map, press Start+L2+Square+L3 all at the same time. To save anywhere, press left on the D-pad, left on the left analog stick, left on the right analog stick, L1, L2, and L3 all at once. These button combinations have been tested on the original PlayStation 2 version of the game, but it is unclear at this point if the combos will work in the Silent Hill HD Collection .
