Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice is a downloadable game that was noted for Ninja Theory’s mission to depict the experience of mental illness while also incorporating the unique experience into the gameplay. It can be disorienting, shocking, and potentially enlightening. It’s heartening to think about how much research they put into trying to handle the topic with care. Now the game is coming to VR, and I’m hoping that the same level of care has been taken.
The game itself was intense and could be a bit overwhelming, even for people without mental illness. Because of the developer’s initial care, I imagine due diligence was done here. In creating Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice VR Edition , I’m sure they took care to make sure that the game wouldn’t be audience by experimenting and developing a set of rules to apply.
Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice VR Edition will be released on July 31, 2018. It will be available via Steam for Oculus Rift and HTC Vive owners. Customers who already own the game on Steam will receive this version for free.
