Loot Crates Removed from Forza Motorsport 7

Loot Crates Removed from Forza Motorsport 7

It’s always good to see another developer consciously decides to remove or avoid loot boxes or purchasable in-game currency. Ever since the big fallout with EA’s Star Wars: Battlefront 2 , we’ve been seeing more and more of it. Now, it would seem that Forza Motorsport 7 is the latest title to proclaim that it is distancing itself from that business model. Gamers have been heard.

Turn 10 Studios officially announced that prize crates, which is just another name for the same problematic thing, will be taken out from its upcoming title. Forza Motorsport 7 will also be free of paid tokens, which is nice, because they were kind of a pain in previous Forza games. Forza Horizon 4 will also be token free.

The company has begun working towards removing the previously included loot crates by unlocking over 100 cars, as well as removing cars from prize crates. The prize crates currently left in the game offer “no competitive advantage,” according to Studio Head Alan Hartman. It’s looking like this is actually going to take some effort on their part, so hopefully it pays off for them. And, hopefully they won’t include things like this in future titles.
