EA Is Talking About Cross-Platform Play

The cross-platform play conversation continues to evolve, and even big companies like EA are beginning to talk openly about the concept. Fortnite is changing the world, folks. According to PC Gamer, EA Vice President of Investor Relations Chris Evenden has alluded to EA’s desire to make many of its big games cross-platform experiences.

The quotes here come from an EA earnings call, during which Evenden was asked about Fortnite and its cross-platform driven successes. He said, we’re looking at key franchises in terms of how we can deliver cross-platform play in a similar way that Fortnite has, especially some of out titles that have a broad and diverse player base.” He talked about going from PC to mobile, or mobile to console, can bring more people together. “Expect more from us on that front in the future,” he said.

During the call, Evenden also spoke to EA’s interest in cloud technology for streaming games as a related component to this area. At another point during the call, EA’s chief operating officer Blake Jorgensen also spoke about Fortnite , in the context of having free to play games. He said that while there’s nothing like that planned for Battlefield V , EA is “interested in experimenting” in the free to play space.
