GameStop May Discontinue Elite Pro Membership

GameStop May Discontinue Elite Pro Membership

As a former employee, I’ll tell you that GameStop really, really twists its workers arms to push those discount cards and magazine subscriptions on customers. You’ve likely felt the effects of this during checkout. For most people, the card isn’t super useful. For some, though, it’s a wise choice. Shame that the upper tier, called Elite Pro, might be disappearing, then.

This rumor comes from Reddit, where an Assistant Manager at GameStop reported that he had been informed of the card’s impending doom. According to him, the Elite Pro program will cease to be on August  1, 2018, but renewals are possible until then.

It is my assumption, based on his insistence that people renew and a lack of information otherwise, that people will be able to get the full benefits of their existing subscriptions. It may be possible to add time onto your current subscription, but it’s worth checking in at GameStop to make sure that they haven’t changed the way that works. No word yet on exactly why they may be removing the program.
