Overkill’s The Walking Dead Console Release Delayed

Overkill’s The Walking Dead Console Release Delayed

While Overkill, developer of the Payday series, will still be able to launch its take on The Walking Dead for the PC on November 8, 2018, the same can no longer be said for consoles. As announced by publisher Starbreeze, The Walking Dead won’t be making it to the PlayStation 4 or the Xbox One until next year, on February 6, 2019.

This news comes out of gamescom 2018, where Overkill is currently displaying the game, and even showing off a new level, Underpass. It’s unfortunate news, especially for a game with such an already turbulent history. But seeing as the PC version is keeping its release date, that probably means the overall game is on good shape, and the console versions just need a little extra elbow grease. That’s just conjecture, of course.

Much like the Payday series, Overkill’s The Walking Dead is based on multiplayer, cooperative gameplay against some seriously brutal odds. In this case, teams of four will work together on various missions, such as supply runs, survivor rescues and more. This takes place in Washington D.C., of course in the midst of an outbreak of the undead.
