The Division 2 Twitch Numbers Imply Drop in Interest

The Division 2 Twitch Numbers Imply Drop in Interest

One of the modern barometers for a game’s success (or lack thereof) is the size of its audience on streaming platforms. These numbers aren’t always super accurate, since it’s hard to put them all together between platforms, but it’s easy enough to look at Twitch and make some credible observations. As such, based on analysist site GitHyp, it’s looking like Ubisoft’s The Division 2 isn’t landing as hot as the first game.

As the private beta for the game has kicked off, The Division 2 seems to have peaked at 105k concurrent viewers. While that’s an impressive number by itself, it doesn’t quite hold up to other games this week, including Apex Legends ’ impressive 486k debut. Additionally, the number also falls below the first Division ’s peak, which was 149k viewers.

While this doesn’t speak for the quality of The Division 2 at all, it does mean that for whatever reason (and there could be several), the second game’s first major playable outing isn’t landing as well as Ubisoft may have hoped. We’ll all see how it goes in the long run of course, but Apex Legends and Anthem are proving to be pretty stiff competition.
