Dante, Nero, and V are putting incredible numbers up on the board. Capcom has revealed the sales figures for Devil May Cry 5, which we reviewed and loved , and it has set a record. Namely, this fifth installment is now the fastest selling entry in the entire series.
The reveal came at GDC 2019. At a panel at the event, Hideaki Itsuno shared the good news. He’s been the director of the Devil May Cry series since Devil May Cry 2. ) One of the slides he shared noted that over two million copies of this most recent installment have already been sold worldwide. This is especially notable, as all of those sales came in two weeks. The game only just launched on March 8, 2019.
To compare, Devil May Cry 4 was the best selling installment prior to Devil May Cry 5 ‘s review. The last announcement Capcom made about its sales put the overall figure around three million. Given the 2019 release’s success, it is very likely it could pass three million in sales before Spring 2019 ends.
Capcom is absolutely killing it with games as of late. Monster Hunter: World ended up being the most successful in its series and was the company’s best seller ever on PCs, following its Steam debut. The Resident Evil 2 remake received incredible ( and even perfect ) scores at launch. One can only imagine what will happen next for the company.
